Lizelle and Rudolf where on the red carpet at The Hermitage Museum Hotel in St Petersburg in Russia in July for the 2019 World Luxury Restaurant Awards Gala Ceremony, Serendipity received two World Luxury Restaurant Awards for 2019.
Serendipity is the “Global Winner, South African Cuisine” and the “Country Winner (South Africa)  Fine Dining Cuisine” for 2019. 

South African Fine Dining

Serendipity restaurant is situated on the bank of the Touw River Lagoon adjacent to the Wilderness National Park in the Garden Route of South Africa. We invite you to enjoy an unforgettable, uniquely South African gourmet experience with us.

The executive chef, Lizelle Stolze is crowned with numerous awards and qualifications. Apart from excellent local and international experience Lizelle is a dux Cum laude student of Prue Leith Academy of Food and Wine where she gained top honours as a student. She has also lectured at Prue Leith Academy of Food and Wine as a professional lecturer. She is a Fellow Member of the South African Chefs Association and a Honoraire Culinaire of the Chaine des Rotisseurs.

Superb cuisine, friendly and professional service and wonderful wines in a setting that is graceful but relaxed is the credo for Serendipity’s South African inspired gourmet fare. A five course South African inspired table d’hÔte menu, experienced leisurely in a refined atmosphere that increases the pleasure of the dining experience is the benchmark of Serendipity.


The American Express Platinum Fine Dining Awards 2017 were presented for Cape Town, the Winelands, and the Garden Route at The Olive Press at Boschendal estate.Serendipity received the Prestigious 10 Year award. The Awards continue to reflect the country’s rising culinary spirit and serve as a catalyst in championing the enhancement of the fine dining industry and experience in South Africa.We would like to thank all our patrons and guests who have supported us over the years.

“Lizelle won fame for the use of local ingredients, including wild game; like eland, kudu, springbok and warthog; game birds such as guinea fowl and quail; South African fish like cob, snoek and red roman, freshly sourced and exceptionally prepared and presented.
Her dishes are original, and sophisticated, yet simplicity shines through. She makes use of the fresh, local ingredients of the Garden Route and Cape.
Rudolf’s wines are expertly paired to the menu and elevate the experience of diners.”

Remember we are serving South African FINE DINING, table d’hôte, five course dinner, from 6.30pm, Mondays to Saturdays. We don’t turn tables so that you can enjoy your celebrations.
